TFT Season 13 introduced a lot of changes, but one build stands out—the Experiment Twitch comp. Twitch, once overlooked, has risen as one of the most powerful carries in the game. This comp works well against Black Rose and Kog’Maw, making it a top pick. By combining Twitch’s strength and Mundo’s tankiness, you can counter the current meta.
Key Weaknesses of the Experiment Twitch Comp
Despite its strengths, the Experiment Twitch comp does have weaknesses. The main issue is that Mundo requires the Fighter Emblem to reach his full potential. Without this item, he struggles to tank and deal damage. Additionally, choosing the right items for both Twitch and Mundo is crucial to optimize their performance.
Why Twitch is a Top Carry in the Current Meta
Twitch’s ability to target random enemies was once a drawback. It often led to him wasting shots on tanks or failing to finish off low-health enemies. But in the current meta, where compositions like Black Rose and Kog’Maw dominate, Twitch’s random targeting works in his favor. His attacks can still eliminate backline carries, which is key in longer fights—exactly what the meta favors.
Core Items for Twitch in TFT Season 13
Twitch needs two key items to be effective: Runaan’s Hurricane and Infinity Edge. Runaan’s Hurricane boosts his attack speed and damage, letting him hit multiple targets. Infinity Edge increases his critical strike damage, which is essential for bursting down enemies. You may also choose Hand of Justice for added damage and sustain.
Mundo, on the other hand, needs tank items like Warmog’s Armor and Sunfire Aegis. These items help him serve as both a tank and secondary damage dealer. In some cases, you can bring Elise as an AP off-tank damage dealer if Mundo is already tanky enough.
Choosing Augments for the Experiment Twitch Composition
Selecting the right augments is critical for success. Here are the best options:
- Fighter Emblem / Experiment: Increases Mundo’s tanking power.
- Cannibalism: Helps sustain in long fights.
- Belt of Passion: Boosts health and damage for Twitch.
- Piercing Lotus: Increases Twitch’s damage output.
- Sniper Nest: Enhances Twitch’s effectiveness from range.
- ReinFOURcement: Supports Mundo and Twitch.
These augments improve both Mundo’s durability and Twitch’s damage potential.
Early Game Strategy for the Experiment Twitch Comp
This experiment has a critical weakness because Mundo belongs to the Ruler tribe while he is a tank that relies on health. Therefore, to maximize his strength, you should only play when Mundo has the Fighter emblem. If not, you need to equip Mundo with good items from the start to be tanky enough later on. Since this strategy is played at level 8 with a lot of rolling, the early economy cores are also very effective when playing Twitch.
In the early game, focus on maintaining health and building a strong economy. Maddie should hold items for Twitch, while Steb holds items for Mundo. The Fighter-Sentinel synergy gives you a strong early game and allows you to save health.
Don’t use Zyra as a carry holder. Her AP scaling doesn’t sync well with Twitch’s AD. Zyra also isn’t as strong as Maddie and you won’t need her later. Focus on keeping health high and securing key items like Giant Slayer or Shovel early to craft the Fighter Emblem for Mundo.
Leveling Up and Rolling Strategy
You’ll want to level up to Level 6 by 3-2. At this point, roll to find the right champions for your comp. If needed, substitute Maddie for Kog’Maw or use Gangplank with Trundle for added synergy. In mid-game, focus on saving health and check what items other players are preparing, for example, if the lobby has many Black Roses and a Kog’Maw, you don’t need a Green Bow, and you can go for two Infinity Edges instead. On the other hand, if the lobby has many players using short-range carries like Camille or Violet, you definitely need a Green Bow and healing reduction items as soon as possible.
By Level 8, start rolling to get Twitch and Mundo at 2 stars. Mundo is essential for the frontline. Keep at least 30 gold to search for anomalies during 4-6 rounds. Prioritize anomalies that increase Mundo’s health. Since Twitch already has high damage with his core items, Mundo needs healing-based anomalies. A Slow Cooker anomaly (+20% damage based on health) is perfect for Twitch.
Positioning and Adjustments During Combat
Positioning is key for this comp’s success. Always place Twitch and Mundo in the Experiment Slot. This keeps them safe from crowd control and maximizes their effectiveness. If opponents place crowd control champions in front of Twitch, adjust your positioning to avoid getting stunned. While it’s tempting to keep Twitch in the Experiment Slot, moving him can help avoid stuns and improve his survivability.
Why the Experiment Twitch Comp is a Game-Changer
The Experiment Twitch comp is a powerful choice in TFT Season 13, especially when facing Kog’Maw and Black Rose. With the right champions, items, and augments, this comp can dominate the meta. Whether you’re new to the game or a veteran, this comp offers a reliable route to victory. Try it out and see its power in action!
