When Faker Roars, the Community Wholeheartedly Agrees.
A Heart-Stopping Match Against Nongshim RedForce
It wasn’t the opening match against Gen.G in the LCK Spring 2024 season that truly had the LCK audience, especially T1 fans, on the edge of their seats. It was the showdown against Nongshim RedForce that truly tested nerves. T1 had moments where defeat seemed imminent. Yet, amidst superstar moments and a display of dominance, T1 secured victory on the day Faker marked his 900th game in the LCK.
A Remarkable Performance with the New Champion Hwei
On the same day of this milestone in his career, Faker showcased an outstanding performance with the champion Hwei. Hwei, a recently introduced champion by Riot, has seen considerable success. In the mid lane position of the LCK Spring 2024, Hwei has appeared in 8 games, winning 6 with a 75% win rate. Among the players, Faker and BuLLDoG from Kwangdong Freecs are the top users of Hwei, with Faker boasting a 100% win rate with the champion (in 2 matches).
Setting a Notable Record with Hwei
Faker also set a remarkable record with the champion Hwei. Hwei became the second champion with the most kills in a single game throughout Faker’s career, including international tournaments. The first champion to achieve this feat was Zed, the champion that brought Faker into the spotlight, in a match between SKT T1 and KT Rolster on March 2, 2017.
The Roar of Victory
In a post-match interview, Faker’s declaration rang loud and clear, resonating with unanimous agreement: “Personally, I think I’m currently the best Hwei player.” Indeed, Faker’s recent performance with Hwei against NS was incredibly impressive. Hwei marks the 76th champion Faker has brought into professional play in the LCK.
Future Prospects with Hwei
It’s highly likely that Faker will utilize Hwei more frequently, given the champion’s impressive strength in the hands of T1’s captain. However, this depends on T1’s strategy as well as their opponents’. And opponents may have to consider banning Hwei whenever facing off against T1 in the near future.
