In Honkai: Star Rail 2.2’s main story quest, players will unlock a new version of the Traveler: Fate Weaver, an Imaginary element character.
Despite being a free character, the Traveler in Honkai: Star Rail is no slouch and has been a popular choice among players for over a year, including both the Fire and Physical versions. In this 2.2 patch, the Imaginary/Fate Weaver version of the Traveler is officially released, giving players a new option. Let’s explore what the protagonist’s new skillset can do and how to build it to maximize its potential.
Traveler – Fate Weaver’s Skill Overview
While the Honkai: Star Rail 2.2 update marks the debut of Robin, an extremely powerful 5-star Imaginary character (which Sforum has already provided a build guide for), Traveler – Fate Weaver is no slouch either. The Traveler’s new skillset focuses on dealing massive damage based on the enemy’s HP bar, and can keep them in a vulnerable state longer with the Opera Hat Mark.
The Traveler’s new Combat Technique is also very useful. With the ability to deal up to 5 hits of damage to random enemies, and being a bounce-type skill, this Combat Technique allows you to break down the enemy’s HP bar extremely quickly, especially when there are only 1-2 enemies on the field. While it doesn’t have the ability to pierce vulnerabilities, enemies with Imaginary vulnerabilities will definitely be “handled” with this skill.
In addition, the special Shatter Super Damage effect, which is the first to appear in the game, also addresses a problem that Honkai: Star Rail players have been facing for a long time: the waste of HP damage and shatter attack stats when enemies are already broken. Previously, players only received the damage increase effect on targets that had their HP bar depleted. Now, this Shatter Super Damage effect allows your shatter attack stat and HP damage to be converted into damage, allowing all teammates to deal significantly more damage during this precious window.
Another interesting thing about Shatter Super Damage is that it scales with the HP damage of the attack that triggers it. In other words, the higher the HP damage of the attack, the stronger the Shatter Super Damage. In addition to the Traveler’s own Combat Technique – Fate Weaver, we can also count on the follow-up attack from Aventurine’s talent, Sampo’s Combat Technique, or Gallagher’s ultimate. With the ultimate skill lasting almost 24/7, you can easily keep the Shatter Super Damage effect up for your entire team.
Despite its advantages, Traveler – Fate Weaver also has its drawbacks. The character’s damage output is focused on the phase where enemies are broken, so Traveler’s power will drop significantly if enemies don’t have Imaginary vulnerabilities. You will also need to create a team with characters who build high Shatter Attack stats to take advantage of the Shatter Super Damage effect – for example, Xueyi, Ruan Mei, Gallagher. In the future, miHoYo may release more 5-star characters who build TCKP, and we will have more options when building a team for Traveler – Fate Weaver.
Artifact Builds for Traveler – Fate Weaver
There are several different artifact builds that you can use for Traveler – Fate Weaver, and you don’t necessarily need to farm the new domain. Choose defense or attack sands and goblet, speed boots, and CRIT Rate or Energy Recharge mainstat on the necklace. Substats to prioritize are speed, CRIT Rate, HP, and defense.
Here are some specific artifact sets for Traveler – Fate Weaver:
- 4x Chronometer: The “story canon” set for Traveler, providing a massive amount of CRIT Rate for the entire team.
- 2x Stray Star / 2x Chronometer + 2x Envoy: Provides CRIT Rate and speed, the two stats you need to make Traveler effective.
- 4x Stray Star: Gives 36% CRIT Rate and helps with energy recharge. If you have enough speed but lack CRIT Rate, this is a decent option until you farm a good Chronometer set.
- 2x Stray Star + 2x Chronometer: Only provides 32% CRIT Rate, which is useful but not better than any of the other options above.
Artifacts for Traveler – Fate Weaver:
- Talia: Always the top choice for characters who need CRIT Rate with 36% CRIT Rate, however, you need to build to 145 speed.
- Vonwacq the Energetic: When you are lacking energy and cannot use your ultimate skill regularly, this is the best option.
- Penacony: Also provides 5% energy recharge like Vonwacq, but also buffs the damage of other Imaginary DPS on the team. Note that it does not affect Shatter Super Damage.
Light Cone Builds for Traveler – Fate Weaver
Currently, there are no 5-star Light Cones for Imaginary in Herta’s shop, so players don’t have many options. Here are what you can use for Traveler – Fate Weaver:
- Memories of That Day: Ruan Mei herself is also an Imaginary character who needs Shatter Attack stats, so it’s no surprise that her Light Cone is the best choice for Traveler. It provides a large amount of CRIT Rate, buffs damage for the whole team, helps recharge Combat Technique and energy.
- Form in Memories: The best 4-star item for Traveler – Fate Weaver right now, with 56% CRIT Rate (S5) and additional energy recharge when attacking enemies.
- Dance! Dance! Dance!: A decent choice for characters that buff the whole team, but due to the lack of energy recharge effect, you may have problems with the uptime of your ultimate skill when using it.
- Samsara (S5): For support characters who rely on their ultimate skill, this 3-star Light Cone is always one of the cheapest and most effective options.
Conclusion
That’s all you need to know about how to build Traveler, the new Imaginary element character, Fate Weaver in Honkai: Star Rail.
